Streamline Taxis' relationship with Auriga has developed through more than a decade of working together. Streamline currently manage their business using Auriga's flagship Evocab data dispatch system, which processes bookings and automatically sends them out to the correct vehicles. Recently Streamline Taxis installed Auriga's revolutionary new CT4000 in-car computers in the entire fleet. Marketing Manager Andy Peters says it was driver pressure which won the day: "We were so impressed by the advances Evocab bought to our business that when the drivers became aware of the CT4000 unit they voted to get them in as soon as possible," he says. "They felt sure that Evocab combined with the CT4000 would be the winning combination." Drivers can benefit from its ultra-efficient use of radio bandwidth, and unique usability which makes it simple to pick up for new and experienced users alike. "We can now receive more information with regards to jobs," explains owner-driver Barry Cooper. "And the new Bidding features mean we're getting more work, and dead mileage is reduced too". Formed as Hove Streamline Radio Taxis in 1936 by a group of enterprising Hackney Carriage drivers, the company has flourished in the years since. Streamline's success has been such that it has outgrown its traditional working area of Hove, and expanded operations to include Brighton. As a result, the company recently changed its name to reflect this, becoming Streamline Taxis 202020 Brighton & Hove. Streamline is an association of drivers managed by committee which is elected every year by the association members. And with 350 drivers (120 of whom are owner-members) and more than 170 cars, Streamline's vehicles are a regular sight on the roads in the Brighton and Hove area - especially so, given their distinctive livery of white and aqua-marine hackney carriages, as required by the local council. But the taxi and private hire industry is highly competitive environment, and especially so in the Brighton/Hove region, so what is the secret of Streamline's success? Andy says much of it is due to the company's policy of using the best available technology: "We have always prided ourselves in investing in technology to expand our business and operations," he explains. "That is why we are with Auriga Systems, because they supply the most advanced products in the industry." The company recently took the next step, and installed Auriga's revolutionary new CT4000 in-car computers in the entire fleet, so all drivers can benefit from its ultra-efficient use of radio bandwidth, and unique usability which makes it simple to pick up for new and experienced users alike. Vice-Chairman Jeff Howell concurs: "We are proud to boast we have the most up-to-date system available, not only in this area, but probably in the UK." With its advanced functionality and expanding feature set, the CT4000 was specifically designed for the Taxi and Private Hire industry - so it is no surprise that drivers are excited by the product. But with 70 years' progress behind them, you wouldn't expect Streamline to stand still now they've passed this landmark. Already plans are in development to expand the company's offices, which are now too small for their requirements. Looking further ahead, Andy sees future progress, too: "We are constantly trying to evolve," he says. "We are excited about the revolutionary features that are planned for the CT4000 in the future, and we are happy to continue to work on and with Auriga on future developments to push the industry further."
